Can you grow out of psoriasis?

Psoriasis and life

Think of a disease that causes extreme itchiness with dry patches all over your body with scales. It causes you inflammation, and depression is also a symptom of it. Imagine your immune system defying you, overruling you, and taking over. Turning on your own healthy cells. When your body betrays you, you have no other choice but to help it and make things better. Can you grow out of psoriasis? A question asked very frequently because of the sheer mount of people who are suffering from this disease around the globe. And as much as I hate to be the bearer of bad news, you cannot grow out of psoriasis. The flare ups will keep happening time and time again.

But that does not mean you give up. We get one life, we live once. And we owe this much to our body. To be able to look after it and care for it. Because psoriasis is treatable and you can do wonders when it comes to helping your body alleviate pain and stress.

What causes psoriasis?

No one exactly knows the root cause of psoriasis, and many researchers believe that it is a genetic disease that triggers the immune system. This causes rapid growth of skin cells. A person can have the genes for psoriasis without having the disease appear on the skin. The genes can be passed on for generations before someone meets the right combination of genes and environmental factors that trigger this condition.

Is there a cure?

There is no cure yet, but scientists and biotechnologists are looking into it more than ever before. And although they are not quite there yet, they are pretty close! They understand the genetic makeup and potential causes for the condition. Researches all around the world about psoriasis, are being heavily funded by the governments. And the future for its cure is bright!

Ways to treat psoriasis:

There are many ways from medical to natural to home-made remedies. And it is really up to your body as to what treatment suits it best. It is all about hit and trial, and a good word from your dermatologists to guide you in the right direction.

Topical treatments that involve creams and lotions, tend to help a lot. Ingredients like coal tar, corticosteroids and salicylic acid have been known to help with removing scales, softening the skin, and reducing inflammation and itchiness.

Other treatments include natural rubs and essential oils like flaxseed oil, coconut oil and aloe vera. These ingredients can help soothe the skin and allow medication to work properly on the affected area.

Lastly, are home-made remedies which include setting up a routine to follow, hydrating your body, de-stressing yourself and keeping your body clean and free of bacterial or microbial growth.

Overview:

Psoriasis is just a word, until we give it meaning. This disease has nothing on us, if we don’t allow it the control. We can fight it and get better every day! Before trying any of these treatments, it is crucial that you have a proper conversation with your doctor about the dos and don’ts of these treatments. With that said, maybe you cannot grow out of it, but you can always make things better for yourself.
